Our mission
The Norwegian International Hernia Team performs affordable hernia surgery and education in low- and middle-income countries with high-quality standards. Our mission is to alleviate the burden of hernia-related diseases in underserved communities.
Education
The team has developed a sustainable training program tailored for hernia surgery in resource-constrained settings. Local doctors are trained to achieve proficiency through the use of innovative (digital) tools. The training program empowers local trainers, enabling them to continue providing surgical training independently, even when our team is not present.

Hernia Surgery
Surgical capacity for hernia disease is insufficient in most low- and middle-income countries. This leads to a large pool of untreated patients suffering from hernia conditions. Our goal is to enhance surgical capacity safely and ensure quality standards are met.

Our team treats at least 50 patients a week. All patients are carefully prepared and planned for surgery and a structured quality database is maintained.
